Black Lacquer Chinoiserie Side Cabinet

Description

This black lacquer side cabinet features intricate Chinoiserie decoration, characterized by delicate paintings of figures in landscapes, floral motifs, and ornate gold trim. The design evokes traditional East Asian aesthetics, likely dating from the mid-20th century when Chinoiserie experienced a resurgence in Western decorative arts. The cabinet has two drawers with brass hardware and a decorative border along the top and sides. Its compact size suggests it was intended as an accent piece or nightstand.
